Bars were pieces of wood which served to close and to strengthen the leaves of the doors which we were anxious to close solidly. The outside doors of tours(towers, ballots), isolated works of  defense, when they close only by a leaf, are often provided with wooden bars which go into the thickness of the wall. In case of surprise, by pushing the leaf and pulling(firing) the wooden  bar(helm), we maintained him(it) solidly closed and we gave ourselves the time(weather) to lock. Here were (2) a door by this way(means) so simple. On the opposite site in the  accommodation(housing) of the bar(helm) is practised, in the splaying of the door, a square notch which receives the end of this bar(helm), when it is completely pulled : the leaf was so  strongly barricaded; to pull this bar, a ring was put in its extremity to pull this bar, a ring was put in its extremity, and, to put back in it in its changing room, a deep mortise, practised down,  allowed the hand to make her(it) go out of the notch in which it made a commitment(3).
The current narrow opening and  height may be the result of the siege in  1404. You can see the concrete floor  built by SAIM  The north door bars 20 Inches slid  sideways to a depth of 1.50 m.  Knowing that the door to be measured  about 3 meters in height 2.50 meters in  width, we can say that we wanted to  safety first. The provision of simple but  ingenious rollers we point to drag the  bar. Walled door and subsequently  shifted to the left.
Entered the North of the fortifications: a tower three quoted of which there are only, allowed  to protect this entrance. A wall with also a arc was parallel to the rampart. We find the same  arrangement for the entrance of the castle.
View(Sight) of the inside of the tower the North. The ground is convert by a  concrete(watertight) paving stone realized by the S.A.I.M. (Malgrés several letters did not  want to express themselves on this subject). I know only that a hole in summer filled by  diverse rubbles. Searches(excavations) would obviously be to plan to know more about it.  The portedevait second be following the first one(night). The whole established(constituted)  a sieve(airlock) of éntrée. From the point of view of J Duc we notice a wall.                  This paving stone served as scene(stage) for miscellaneous  demonstration(appearance) to collect(harvest) some money(silver).. It should be noted that  she(it) is not on the ground of the SA.I.M. but on mister . Arnaudon's plot of land!  Mister Arnaudon Max spoke to me he it in for a very long time about a harrow or about iron  spades(pikes, lances). I do not have more details to this day. We notice the sudden dômages  by the outer wall. Also tracks of fire are visible on the wall to the left.  The photo of the top is of 2011, and after abatage of the trees, we can finally see the set. The  cut creepers depusi more than year dried. Not easy to return the visible ruin!
Another proof of the presence of this door in the tower: we can see this arc which was  obscured. We thus had a tower carry.
We find several of these systems of lock to Mantaille
Esteemed of the tower or us  notice a window, what  suggests well that it was  covered. We notice the holes of  boulins usual but also what  seems to be holes for roof. Against the  wall was dependences.
Northwest door of Mantaille. She(it) does not exist any more and I thought of seeing her(it) in the space by which we reach the castle at present, and it has just been confirmed by Mr. Duke he  even who in 1881 made the plan of the castle. He indicates us that the door was destroyed 40 years before he makes his statements. Here is thus an interesting confirmation of what we  suspected. We can make moreover the link with the discovery of skeletons which were cleared released to plant of the vine in the court.
walled-up door :
Door destructed in 20th century
Here is thus a riddle of solved. Well to wonder one little why to have moved this door, which in priori returned the vulnerable wall. Many things are to be discovered on Mantaille! Thanks to  Mr. Duke to have left this information about its plan which crossed the decades.
Southwest door :
Southwest door of Mantaille. If you have well followed, we notice the same system of closure(lock) by two bars as the north  door. This door had to join the court(yard) below, can be also for déscendre towards Bancel or a ford allowed to cross. But by  what ways(means)? Staircase? At the moment I have no answer to this question, but a path(way) is represented well on the  Napoleonic land registry.   We find also a tower there protecting this entrance(entry). She(it) is nowadays half collapsed    In this sector we brought back to(reported) me the existance of two columns, as well as a cavity serving in a time(period) to  hold(like) reserves the cool. I discovered nothing this day... But I look!!! (We also speak about it in the Church below, on an  intended display(posting) can belong to the tourists.) Pay attention! the place is difficult to access and deserves all your  atention. risk to slide on a stone, brambles are also in on this(are also on this line of business), and we can say that Mantaille  still makes of the resistance 6 centuries after its destruction
Photo to the right, we notice stones which exceed(overtake).  Not to serve to rise, but simply there seen by the construction  of a wall. Rampart? tower?... The project was never born.
We can see here the base(basis) of the wall of the south  tower. He(it) rests(bases) on nothing, the low part(party)  fell. It is urgent to make something to save these ruins.
Here is as is, the southern part of ruins. We notice the door,  with the location for the bars of locks included in the wall. We  do not notice a systême défenssifs, certainly were they on the  éffondrées and not visible parts to this day. A to follow thus.  Mantaille reserves many other surprises, but patience and  imagination, allows to reveal little by little the mysteries of  these fascinating ruins.
Tour sud
Porte nord est
It is here that we reach the castle. We have to deal well thus has a travel(movement) of door. How  was it rest the question. We do not notice defenssif work in this place. No tour(tower, ballot) for  example.
Magnificent Southeast door (well OK needs of the imagination). The nature shows us this arc of vault. The wall is 1.5 meters in thickness. An opening to the left of any defensive obvious fact,  can be to observe the access road. It is the arc which we flood in the constructions over the girders of doors, over the space generally, and the low parts of the lower constructions to put back  the weight of the superior constructions on support points the stability of which is assured. The archivolts of portals(gates) and doors are real discharging arches (voy. Archivolts, variety of  the Bow(Arc)); however we give hardly the name of discharging arches that in the bows(arcs) the facing of which levels the nude of walls, which distinguish themselves from horizontal  assizes(conferences) only by their device, and sometimes however by a low(weak) projection. In the Roman constructions raised(brought up) in small materials and in blockings, we often  meet brick-built discharging arches and in rubble stones flooded in full wall, to postpone(to put back) the gravities on points of the foundations and established bases more solidly than the  rest of the building. This tradition still keeps(preserves) during the Romanic period. But in this time(period) the constructions in blocking were not used any more, and we find only very  rarely arcs intended to divide the gravities in a full wall.
Fenêtre à coussiège
Archère. La seule visible.
Below the archère, under  roofs, we find this window.
Adds us on a vault, under our foot is a lower level. This place is innaccéssible because  full of earth(ground). I have no idea of the area(extent) of it under ground. We shall  notice that the lower ground level coincides in some thing near at the level of the  court(yard).
Porte sud est
Northouest door :  But really is it a door? Door or northwest window or simple discharging arch? View highly-rated south discovered with the luck(chance). We know that at the certain moment the castle  was reshaped to be more a palace, but a place for a garrison. I am lacking elements to say it more. To follow....
Here is a representation of the fact that had to be this  part(party). The fact that she(it) is cleared(released) well,  with the light, shows that it was a place of life. The floor  above had to be the one domestics. The contrastre is  blatant with the north part(party) which presents only  alone one small window.
Easily we can see north wall
At the ouest we can see very good ajusting blocs.
We shall notice a right foot. Only detail, it is back to front! It thus indicates one re-use.
To the right, detail of a right foot in the right direction! ( Viollet  Leduc)  To the left we can see the departure of the bow(arc).  A post (or post), called also rising or downstroke(jamb), can  indicate(appoint):  The side part(party) of a bay(berry), a door, a window, a  mantelpiece (called also downstroke(jamb)), the vertical wall  supporting(bearing) the birth of a vault, the square pillar which  carries(wears) the birth of an arch and each of the stones of this  pillar. In a deck, the posts which are the extreme supports take the  name of veered astern; those who are intermediate the name of  pile when they are made by stone, and palée when they are  wooden. Wikipedia source.
I found this plan of another building. We shall notice the general shape, which will remind has a snail. Indeed, it is necessary to enter the farmyard far from the entered of the  castle by exposing(explaining) itself. This can be an explanation in the modifications having led to the closure(lock) of a tower carry(wear), and the opening of a piece of news(short story).
